1. Blueberries
Blueberries are a great treat for dogs, as they contain antioxidants, Vitamins C and K, as well as fiber which all help to support their immune system! Try freezing them on a hot day to help keep your dog cool.
2. Apples
Apples are a great healthy alternative to regular dog treats. They are full of fibre which assists with your dog’s digestion as well as Vitamin A and C which help obtain great K9 health! Apples can also help remove residue from your dog’s teeth which helps with the bad breath and overall mouth health. Please be careful to give your dog apples in moderation and make sure to remove the seeds as they can be harmful to your furbaby.
3. Cucumber
Cucumbers are packed with nutrients like potassium, copper and magnesium which are all vital in keeping your dog happy and healthy. They also have a high water content so a great option for hot summer days to keep your furfriend hydrated.
4. Bananas
Low in cholesterol and sodium, bananas are a great treat alternative that is not only great for your dog’s health, but they will also love! Bananas contain potassium, copper and vitamins which are all essential for heart health. Be aware that a small banana contains 12 grams of sugar, so remember to serve in moderation.
Remember to serve all these in moderation, too much fruit or vegetables is not good for your K9 friend. All these healthy treats should not be the primary source of nutrients for you dog. Talk to your local vet if you have any questions about what diet is best for your dog.
